An MTC bus that got stuck in the soft earth on Madipakkam main road on Thursday morning cutting off traffic beyond this point.



The State Highways Department is constructing a storm water drain across the Madipakkam Main Road (also called Sabari Salai) to channelise the flow of rainwater into the Karthikeyapuram Lake in Madipakkam.

As the road is very narrow the storm water drain is being constructed in two phases to avoid a traffic bottleneck. While one portion of the storm water drain has been completed, construction work is in progress on the other section. With the MTC bus getting stuck, buses bound for Keelkatalai were stopped at the Ponni Amman Koil Bus Stop putting the passengers, who were waiting at the bus stops along the Keelkatalai route, at the mercy of autorickshaws.

School students had to take a long diversion through a number of streets to reach their schools due to the roadblock.
