Delhi
The capital, seat of political power, the satta game! Republic and Independence day parades. Golgappes. Punjabi Dhaba khana! Chandni Chowk, 10 Janpath! Cheap affordable housing. HOT SCORCHING summers, COLD CHILLING winters. Pollution. Not very friendly neighbors, Chai in earthern pots! Ambassadors (cars here!). Black Cats! Sonia Gandhi! Road Rage, Traffic Jams, but how good is the traffic sense here?

Thumbs up Move Slow---"Men" At work!!

It is good to see that Delhi traffic police have seriously taken up the act of punishing the traffic violators. I want to share one of my experiences on the same:

Today morning when I was coming to my office from Delhi to Gurgaon by our office cab then on a red light near Mayur Vihar phase I, our cab driver tried to jump the red light when suddenly an Interceptor vehicle with the gypsy of Delhi traffic police reached there and caught our cab for jumping red light. Our driver did every possible thing to convince the cops for not issuing the challans, he also offered them the bribe of Rs 300 but cops refused his bribe amount and issued a challans of Rs 600. Cops also fined all those who were standing on the zebra crossing at that time. It was a real pleasure for me to see that the cops were not accepting the bribe from any one and was booking challans unbiased!

good work

I am glad you have brought this up. Contrary to popular belief not everyone in India is corrupt. The police have a bad name because of a few. It is time people are arrested for offering a bribe let alone the police accepting one.

More publicity on such issues by the press will go to help discipline a long way on the roads. Keep up the good work. We need to shout out loud when the authorities do a good job.

If Delhi traffic police will keep working in such manner then traffic problems in Delhi will be sort out very much and appreciation of good works i.e. done by our authorities is also very important thing to encourage them.
