| Delhi The capital, seat of political power, the satta game! Republic and Independence day parades. Golgappes. Punjabi Dhaba khana! Chandni Chowk, 10 Janpath! Cheap affordable housing. HOT SCORCHING summers, COLD CHILLING winters. Pollution. Not very friendly neighbors, Chai in earthern pots! Ambassadors (cars here!). Black Cats! Sonia Gandhi! Road Rage, Traffic Jams, but how good is the traffic sense here? |

In our country people give more importance to their time than their life when they traveling on roads. Just read this little e.g. of that.
Place: Maharani Bagh A new foot over bridge for pedestrians is almost complete. I said “almost complete” because a little bit finishing work is still running out there but it is in such a condition where pedestrians can comfortably use this bridge to cross the road. Current Scene: Only few people (like 1 out of 10) use this bridge and most pedestrians still believe in to jump inside the moving traffic to cross the road and I am very much sure that if they will use this newly constructed over bridge then it will never took more than 3 or 4 minutes extra. These pedestrians affect traffic condition on ring road from Ashram to Maharani bagh very badly in peak hours because traffic cops are forced to block the traffic for a minute to clear the path for pedestrian. I think it was ok when bridge was not there but now cops should trying to forced the pedestrians for using the foot over bridge. |

very True...I live in Siddhartha nagar near maharanibagh...I see daily all these activities as above mentioned by Prem...really pathetic...this is our duty to follow all the rules and regulations on the road. If we follow then expect from others. I daily use that particular bridge for crossing the road. Few peoples specially in the morning school kids and their parents not using overbridge and cross the road. I think traffic authority should be there atleast for 1 hour in the morning and in the evening...these traffic authorities only for pedestrians how to use overbridge, why we use over bridge like that. With in a week i think all the things going in a proper manner.

We always blame drivers when he/she had an accident with any pedestrian but most of the time only pedestrians cause for such accident by ignoring moving traffic and run across the road.

No one is using that particular over-bridge...This sign is not good for traffic violaters. There is no traffic police early in the morning...traffic lights are not working properly. Traffic authority also responsible for the traffic lights. If traffic lights working properly or there should be a hoarding then pedestrians know about where to go where not to go...

People give more value to “risky 2 minutes” over their “5 safe minutes”.
I think we are hard follower of these lines:
Isn’t it?

Yesterday traffic flow was really very smooth from Ashram flyover to Maharani bagh stretch. Yes scene has been changed because one of the irons grills which was fixed on divider to stop pedestrians from jumping the divider have been removed from there and a small gap generated to cross the divider. Today morning pedestrians were using that gap instead of over bridge to cross the road. You are right spy that there was no traffic cop but can we not apply our common sense? I am sure that if that grill will not we fixed ASAP then road traffic will definitely hurt on this stretch only because of some FOOLISH pedestrians.
