| Delhi The capital, seat of political power, the satta game! Republic and Independence day parades. Golgappes. Punjabi Dhaba khana! Chandni Chowk, 10 Janpath! Cheap affordable housing. HOT SCORCHING summers, COLD CHILLING winters. Pollution. Not very friendly neighbors, Chai in earthern pots! Ambassadors (cars here!). Black Cats! Sonia Gandhi! Road Rage, Traffic Jams, but how good is the traffic sense here? |

Learning from west
I live in an European country for eight years now. It is good to see people here having traffic sense and how seriously they observe traffic rules.
Recently I traveled with a friend of mine and we covered almost 3000 kms traveling around different cities and places and we did not feel the need to blow horn even for once. It is amazing how things work here. Traveling at 150 kms per hour on freeways, or 30 kms in different cities and towns we did not see any traffic violation or heard any horn. People here are respecting and have caring attitude to each other. Pedestrian are cared for and it is so common to see old people walking without any fear or small children traveling on their bikes with their parents. Everything works fine here because people observe rules. When will we learn from them? We think India has progressed so much and is just like any other advance country as we produce modern cars and fast bikes. This is altogether wrong. We don't need modern cars or bikes infact we need more traffic sense and not speeding like a crazy person breaking all rules or unnecessarily banging horn like a child. It is pity that we can't even observe simple rules. I tried to follow rules while I drive in Delhi but here driving is a big challenge and so much stressful as I am continuously pester by some bus, truck, auto or other nonsense speeding driver. People here can never imagine how our life can improve and change if we just follow simple rules and respect each other while driving. It is time to act now otherwise we will repent in future. We should not tolerate breaking of traffic rules by anyone and consider breaking traffic rules seriously as it can lead to accidents and lose of lives. |

Yes Hemant it is true in other countries people obey traffic rules because they know that traffic rules are made for their safety and manage traffic properly but in India we consider traffic rules as a burden.
Unfortunately we always try to copy foreign countries in film making, latest fashion etc but in following rules and regulations…what should I say?

Right Manoj but there is strict rules and regulations...like you can not park your car anywhere, you can not stop your car anywhere, you can not spit anywhere like that...In India we don't have rules and regulations like this, you can park your car anywhere, you can stop your car anywhere...How ridiculous is this...

Traffic cops always say that lack of cops in traffic police is responsible for present road traffic situation they never accept their failure and road users never care about traffic rules. Then who will take the initiative?
