Delhi
The capital, seat of political power, the satta game! Republic and Independence day parades. Golgappes. Punjabi Dhaba khana! Chandni Chowk, 10 Janpath! Cheap affordable housing. HOT SCORCHING summers, COLD CHILLING winters. Pollution. Not very friendly neighbors, Chai in earthern pots! Ambassadors (cars here!). Black Cats! Sonia Gandhi! Road Rage, Traffic Jams, but how good is the traffic sense here?

Educated drivers? Pass the salt

Educated drivers? Pass the salt

IT WILL be a near-impossible job for the owners of buses to find high-school educated candidates for drivers and conductors. This is the how hundreds of bus drivers and conductors in the city summarised their reaction towards the recent High Court orders mandating a set of new rules for them. "If I were educated, I would not be working as a driver, I would be doing something better," said Kamal, a Blueline bus driver on Route 604.

Bus owners, who now have to hunt for better-educated candidates to run their vehicles, said as much. Manish Malik, a Blueline bus owner said his search for the right candidates had not been fruitful in the last few days.

Others just can't see any rationale behind the court's orders. "Does the court mean that literate people don't meet with accidents? In my 13 years of driving, I have not met with a single accident. And I am illiterate," quipped Lakhbir Singh, a driver who claimed to know traffic rules like the back of his hand. "Educated people do not necessarily make good drivers," he added.

Right Mr. Singh..If court thinks that only educated people can drive sincerely and will follow all the rules & regulations then I think it is not fair.

After the implementation of this law (about educated driver) many drivers will loose their job. So either government or court has any plan for their employment?

It's not promising to find so many drivers who have studied till Class XII to drive a bus. Why would a Class XII pass-out drive a bus? Really very difficult task to find out class 12th pass drivers.

By educated drivers, i mean a driver is one who respects and follows the traffic rules which are laid out to keep everyone safe on the road. A person driving wearing a seat belt simply because he/she does not want to be caught by a traffic cop is not an educated driver as safety is not his/her priority. People who value penalties more then their/others lives should not be allowed on the roads.

Most of the people driving are uneducated drivers and do not know how to drive. The reason is that, most of them have not learnt driving professionally and don’t know the basics of road manners.

You cannot build a good building without a stable foundation.

Educated drivers for better driving skills...It's a very cumbersome job for traffic authorities to recruit educated drivers.
