Road safety should be incorporated in school education
The Secretary of Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has said that the “Road Safety” should be incorporated in school education curriculum all over the country at the earliest. He was speaking at the culmination of national road safety week.
The slogan for this years road safety week as “Accidents bring tears, Safety brings cheers”. has focused on different age groups of school going children so that they learn about road safety in league with various stakeholders including Transport Authorities, Traffic Police, Health departments, schools, transport associations and voluntary organisations. The Statistics show that almost 80 percent of road accident takes place due to driver’s fault. This indicates need of a change in attitude. If people follow traffic rules and adopt simple road safety measures, a large number of fatal accidents can be avoided and thousands of precious lives can be saved. Government need to focus particularly in the younger generations to inculcate respect for traffic rules. If it implants the basics of road safety in the minds of Children, it can surely arrest the increasing trend of road accidents, “the secretary said. He appealed to all stakeholders to join hands with the Government to make roads safer and reversing the increasing Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has prepared road safety materials like Wall calendar, posters in Hindi, English and regional languages, children activity books, book on road safety signage’s and signs and computer mouse pad for free distribution to all Central Government Ministries, all State Governments and 10000 schools spread across the country as a part of an awareness campaign on road safety. Ten lakh wall calendars printed for free distribution. While the beautiful pictures in the calendar decorate office rooms and houses, the road safety messages below the pictures will get implanted in the minds. He also emphasized that the main thrust of accident prevention and control across the world has been on “4 Es”, mainly education, enforcement, engineering and environment and emergency care of road accident victims. The Government is focusing on all these four approaches in its policies and programmes. The meeting was attended by the Secretary, M/o RT&H, Transport Ministers of various states/UTs, DG/IG of all state governments, officials from SIAM, senior government officers of various ministries/departments and NGOs working in the field of Road Safety. A song dedicated to road safety developed by International Road Safety (IRF) was sung by Women from green park in New Delhi on the occasion. |

It's a very good initiative ,students should learn these traffic rules .They drive very fast and don't wear helmets.It can cause accidents.These events will create a impact on their mind.I have some information about cars .I hope you will like it.
