DEPARTMENT- RELATED PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORT, TOURISM AND CULTURE -
INVITES SUGGESTIONS/VIEWS ON THE NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT BOARD BILL, 2010 ![]() 1. The National Road Safety and Traffic Management Board Bill, 2010, as introduced in Lok Sabha and pending therein, has been referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, headed by Shri Sitaram Yechury, M.P., for examination and report. 2.This Bill seeks to establish a dedicated and integrated agency - the National Road Safety and Traffic Management Board for the orderly development, regulation, promotion and optimization of modern and effective road safety and traffic management system and practices in relation to the national highways. The Board would also ensure improved safety standards in highway design, construction, operation and regulate high standards in production and maintenance of mechanically propelled vehicles and for related matters. 3. The Bill also seeks to set up a ‘National Road Safety and Traffic Management Fund’ for meeting the expenses of the proposed Board. 4. For wider consultations, the Committee has decided to invite views/suggestions/comments from the experts/institutions/organizations interested in the subject-matter of the Bill. 5. Written comments/suggestions either in English or Hindi, may be sent to Shri Swarabji B., Joint Director, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Room No. 141, First Floor, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi-10001. Information/documents submitted to the Committee would be treated as confidential and bound by the privileges of the Committee. 7. Those who are desirous of giving oral evidence before the Committee, besides sending memoranda, are requested to indicate so. However, the Committee's decision in this regard shall be final. 8.
