Accidents Biker crushed on expressway

Gurgaon : A biker was crushed to death by a canter on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Hero Honda Chowk on Wednesday. According to the police, victim Jitendra Kumar, 30, who worked in a private firm in Sector 36, was returning to his home in Delhi when a canter hit his Bajaj Platina bike from behind. As he fell on the road, the vehicle crushed him leaving him dead on the spot.

Sources said that the canter's driver fled the spot after the accident. However, the canter (RJ-02-3A-0908) was impounded. "An FIR has been registered under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) has been registered against the unnamed driver and we are looking for him,'' said Mahabir Singh, SHO, Kherki Daula, police station. He added that the post-mortem of the body will be conducted on Thursday.
With this accident, the death toll on expressway reached 11 this year. Data released by concessionaire DSC Ltd states that 80% of the victims of fatal mishap were pedestrians and two-wheelers
