I observed below mentioned situation many times.

What happens when traffic lights become failing?

A traffic cop stands on that traffic cross section to manage the traffic flow properly. What do you think friends did u find him well enough to manage traffic properly.

My Opinion: NO.

Every signal replaced by a cop manning it induces traffic jams and waiting time from 5 minutes to anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes, on an average! That doesn’t make sense, interestingly senior traffic police officers always complaining of shortage of manpower in every part of India.

Traffic cops are less efficient than traffic signals.

Yes!!! you are right anupam!!! traffic cpos are not as punctual as traffic signals...They (Traffic cops) are not a particularly punctual person. They are busy with bribe...Don't indulge in this quagmire.

Good observation anupam. Cops can manage traffic properly only where volume of traffic is very less but they can’t do it properly cross section s with high volume of traffic.

Agree…Yellow light plays an important role in slowing down the traffic and people get ready to stop and when light turns to red traffic stops completely but in case of managing traffic manually i.e. by traffic police it is not so they indicates randomly to stop and vehicles not get the time to slow down before stop.

Traffic signals are a must where roads intersect. Following the signals you not only create arranged traffic condition but also introduce safety for self and others in near neighborhood. Lack of signals causes massive problems and our impatient nature leads to traffic jams causing unnecessary delays for all.
