The Traffic People- Delhi Based Group
If you ask people to describe the problems they face when living in India, traffic and pollution would top the list, at least in metros. Shailesh Sinha, an ex-Times of India reporter, has formed a group called The Traffic People, which claims to make Delhi "a smooth traffic city, a true driving delight city." This sounds a far-fetched dream, right? Let's see how they are going to achieve this. They say they will provide 'Daily Traffic Newz Information' at peak hours through their website, so that commuters can plan their journey and are able to save themselves from traffic chaos and bottlenecks. The website also hosts a section called "U Blog" where users can write in comments and views on the subject mentioned and also voice their grievances about traffic, roads, and driving behavior/sense of people and what best can be done to improve that. However, the website does not seem to be very active, with the last blog post being written in October 2008. They also mention that they invite user inputs to build the site, to make it more informative and user-friendly. They have also put up a few feature stories on topics like the dos and don'ts one has to follow while on the road, along with a video and images section, which still looks very much in a nascent stage. Apart from this, the website also provides various important and useful numbers like those of ambulances, car helplines, Delhi taxi stands, the Delhi Transport Corp., the Gurgaon taxi stand, and general enquiry. And if this wasn't all, you can also subscribe for Traffic Updates during peak hours, Monday to Saturday, on your through SMS at Rs. 99 per month. The motto of this group is "We know it'll take time and is not IMPOSSIBLE." We hope that they achieve what they have set to do and expand their reach to other cities as well. ALL THE BEST GUYS!
