From my point of you, we should start from ourselves. Think about it, how many of us follow all the rules

the rules
The first thing to do is make the rules known to the public. At the moment every one talks of rules but no one has actually spelt it out. the second thing is to enforce them. I have written a book for the Indian road user. It can be used all India, I am hoping the authorities will give it some credence and the driving schools and the public see a need to read and follow them.
Thanks. Last edited by ravikant; 14-03-07 at 09:51 AM. |

According to me already there are lots of books available on road safety related issues in India. Everyday numbers of articles publish in number of magazines and news papers to spread awareness on road safety. Unfortunately these articles and books not proving as useful as they should be. Streetwisw I agree with you that traffic rules not implement properly in our country yet. In big cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai etc only few rules like stop at red light and wear helmets follow by the people but in small cities there is no rules and regulations. Governments spent lots of money in construction of flyovers, roads etc to ease the traffic every year but these things will not prove handy until and unless we will not start follow traffic rules. Now it is time to start strict drives to manage traffic properly and restrict people to obey rules. Booking challans for improper driving is not enough.

Yes, I agree that road discipline starts with you and me. As you read this, have you broken a rule toady?? We all do at some time but that should be a rarity rather than a norm. My book will plans to standardise road behaviour and what we should expect of each other. It is not a book on stats and complaints. Thanks

Authority should make a plan for road users like follow traffic rules, drive in your lane, don't drive zip zap and many more...Means the key point is awareness

First people should be educated on concepts like yielding, basic rules, sticking to the lane etc...this should be publicised strongly by the government. If we don't know what rules to be followed, how we can follow rules?
All the CAB/TAXI/SUMO drivers should not be given license unless they are aware of the rules. Stringent actions to be taken on these drivers who don't follow basic rules. Right now anyone who can move his vehicle and apply brakes is given license...his should be changed. |

It is impossible in our country that road users obey traffic rules. The important thing is that lots of road users don’t know about traffic rules then how we can expect to obey rules from them.

Driving license should be issued strictly and should never issue for those who can’t drive properly, unfortunately we can see lots of such type of drivers on our roads and they feel very proud by breaking traffic rules.
The problem is that we lack a mindset for following the traffic laws. Those who break laws will usually find a way to do it & way to start is by strict policing. |

We need to gear our inner selves and keep our dally approach at bay to make traffic rules as moral principles to safer life. We have to make them as a part of our life as food.

The problem, is that we have too many people talking and too few people acting.isn't it?

well said rider. what I find shocking is that there are people who will themselves do nothing and will actively demotivate or deter you from doing something.

We should make traffic education a part of our school and college curriculum so that if not the present, the future generation would turn out to be more civilized and well-mannered when they hit the road...
HOPE TO SEE INDIA GO THAT WAY AT LEAST FOR A DAY.

I m agree with hemant to make traffic education as a part of our school life. There is no doubt we behave like bunch of idiots, fools and most uneducated nuts on roads. This applies to anyone whether he is a Company director or an ordinary auto driver or a person driving a motor cycle or even cycle. Even a pedestrian does show a responsibility to walk while crossing the road. We are becoming very selfish on the road too.
