Pune-based Ashok Naidu, member of the Yezdi and Jawa Owners’ Club of India, has made it to the Limca book of records for riding solo on his vintage classic Cz Jawa Motorcycle-1952 through the Khardung La pass in Leh — the world’s highest motorable pass.

While he successfully completed this feat in 2005, Naidu’s name has featured in the Limca book of record edition 2007.

Naidu said that his trip was an adventurous venture with a lot of hurdles. “The conditions were such that at times the bike refused to climb the steep stretch of 3-4 km in the temperature measuring 5-6 degrees Celsius. At one point, I even decided to return to Leh, but after making slight changes in the engine, I did not face any breakdowns till the finish,” Naidu said.

Naidu said that he was always passionate about bikes, which was why he joined the Yezdi and Jawa Owners’ Club. “I have a love for old bikes and am the founder member of the Pune chapter of the club.”
