I am an Indian, currently in USA and immigrating to Canada soon. I am inquiring about how to obtain Canada Driver's license for India One. I did my home work, made call to Service Alberta 1-780-427-2711 and she gave me the information that is posted in link http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/...rators_Licence . The program says that "Driver's Licenses from India presented for GDL Exemption MUST be accompanied by Original Endorsement documentation obtained through the consulate General of India in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Exception: If the original driver's license has a microchip in it, the license can be sent to SIU without a verification letter."

The details are given as http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/...de_09JAN13.pdf . One of the rules says "The original confirmation letter detailing the client's licensing history from their respective District Transportation Office (DTO) in India is also required."

Has anyone gone through of procedure of exchanging Indian Driver's license and obtained Canadian one. Also has anyone obtained International driver's license from India. Please guide me how can I transfer my Indian License to avoid one year procedure to obtain Canadian one.
