Helmets fine from Nov. 6

The city traffic police will impose fine on two-wheeler riders not found wearing helmets, from November 6.

From November 6, any two-wheeler rider not wearing a helmet would be fined Rs. 100. A fine of Rs. 300 would be imposed for every subsequent violation.

Licence Cancellation

Repeated violation of the rule would result in cancellation of the driving licence, the official said.

As the people were in a dilemma over implementation of the rule, which had been deferred thrice earlier, the traffic police were giving them some time before strictly enforcing it, the official said.

Good move Here are a few of the things that I believe to be true relative to motorcycle helmets
  • More lives have been saved than lost because of wearing helmets.
  • More injuries have been minimized than exaggerated because of wearing helmets.
  • More injuries have been totally avoided than caused because of wearing helmets.

Good Move but it is very unfortunate that traffic cops run special campaigns to force rideers for wearing helmets b'coz it is clearly written in Motor Vehicle Act that Wearing Helmets for riders is necessary so why traffic authorities start such campaigns they should penalize the defaulters whether there is any campaign is running for such things or not.

Actually in our country most people wear helmets and use seat belts due to fear factor of challans they never use such things as a safety purpose and if there is no penalty for not using helmets and seat belts then i m very much sure that no one will use these safety equipments in our country.

Cops of our country also not use these things u can easily find a cop riding a bike without helmet in any part of our country.

Helmet buyers, don’t be taken for a ride

Helmet buyers, don’t be taken for a ride

Are helmet sellers taking you for a ride? Then, here’s your chance to complain.

With two-wheeler riders increasingly complaining that they are being overcharged and sold inferior quality helmets, the legal metrology department has been directed to get cracking against unscrupulous helmet traders.

In the surprise checks conducted by the department officials at helmet shops on Lalbagh Road, Siddaiah Road and Journalists’ Colony, overpricing and sale of non-ISI marked helmets came to light.

The officials booked 72 cases and seized more than 500 helmet boxes belonging to 15 brands from different shops.

Two-wheeler riders, who had come to buy helmets, explained to the officials how sellers were making a fast buck now that the helmet rule has come into force. A helmet, which usually costs around Rs 500, was being sold for Rs 1,200, the buyers complained. The officials found that many traders had smudged the maximum retail price (MRP) mentioned on the boxes. While some boxes had overpriced stickers pasted on the original MRP, others did not contain details of the manufacturer.

Later, the officials seized duplicate helmets being sold on Hosur Road, Old Madras Road and Tumkur Road. Four teams have been formed for this purpose.

Helmetless rider dies...

Yet another person who was riding without wearing a helmet, died in an accident on Mahadevapura main road on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased, Rajesh Narayana, was an engineer at ITPB. Around 2 pm, he was going on his bike on Mahadevapura main road. He was on the left side of the road. A lorry overtook him and took a sudden left turn towards Hoodi Bescom office. Rajesh couldn’t stop in time and rammed into the lorry. He fell down and sustained head injuries. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries around 6.30 pm.

The lorry driver, however, fled after abandoning the vehicle at the accident spot.
