Bangalore
The garden city, set dosa, the largest population Kannada speaking Tamils, Malleshwaram, MG, Kemp Fort, Software, no water, pubs, Vidhan Soudha, Vivesvaraya, spanking clean, sweet, relaxed, greatest weather. Techies who know the right rules to flirt. Silicon valley of India. But how MNCs, outsourcing and corporate culture is shaping the infrastructure of the city?

Exclamation Check misdeeds of drivers, conductors

Check misdeeds of drivers, conductors

Recently, I travelled to Bangalore by the KSRTC bus Rajahamsa and returned to Mysore city by Sheetal. Both ways I was not given the change by the respective conductors. In fact, they both ignored my repeated reminders. Also, the bus driver kept chit-chatting with his friend all through the journey. I hope KSRTC officials check such misdeeds midway in order to curb such practices. They should take complaints from passengers and ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

Surabhi:Get prepared for rain fury

It has become an annual feature that the monsoon brings misery and hardship to people, due to the lack of unpreparedness by our civic authorities. Open drainages get clogged with debris and manholes begin to overflow once monsoon begins. Old trees and branches come down crashing. Houses in low laying areas get filled with gushing water. To top it all, the danger raises when hanging power lines and cables pose a threat to the moving vehicular traffic. However, the local authorities come out with lame excuses and fail to set right problems. At least this year, the officials concerned can take utmost preventive measures to prevent any eventuality.

D Prasad,Kuvempunagar: Revise train timing

The railway department's decision to make the special train from Mysore to Bangalore at 11.45 am, a permanent regular service is welcome. However, the train's timing at 3.15 pm from Bangalore to Mysore is not appropriate. Now that Bangalore is an important business destination, passengers and business associates from Mysore, Madikeri and other places can start early morning at 6 am or 6.45 am, finish their work in Bangalore by 7 pm and return by 8 pm or 8.30 pm and reach Mysore by 11 pm. With Tippu Express leaving Bangalore at 14.15 hours (of late at 3pm after coming from Hubli), the special train leaving at 15.15 hours and a passenger train leaving at 16.50 hours followed by Chamundi Express at 18.15 hours and a passenger at 18.50 hours, there is no train after 7pm till 11:45pm. The special train timing may be rescheduled at 20 hours or 20.30 hours. I request the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.

Neha Bhiju,Vishweshwaranagar: Noise pollution?

Most of the buses plying between Mysore and Krishnaraja Sagar use shrill horns, which is banned. Drivers use the horns indiscriminately, causing irritation for other road users and also for the residents staying on KRS Road. Will the authorities concerned initiate a positive action to curb this menace?

K Chandrahas, K R S Road: Unnecessary speed breakers:

Of late, unnecessary and unscientific road humps are being raised on several roads in the city. Some important roads where such unnecessary humps have been raised at short distances are Shivarampet, Sayyaji Rao Road, Dhanvantri road, JLB Road and D Devaraj Urs Road to name a few. On these roads, there are too many speed breakers that are totally unnecessary for hardly anyone rides fast here as the thoroughfares are crowded anyway. As a result, it is very irritating to commute on these roads. Why are these humps necessary when not many accidents happen in these places? These unwanted humps have been doing nothing but giving back pains to the commuters, especially to those on two-wheelers. I request the authorities concerned to ensure that they are razed.
