Ranchi

Once the summer capital of Bihar, Ranchi is now the capital of newly-formed Jharkand State. On account of its historical position as an important administrative and military base of the eastern India during the British Raj, Ranchi developed as an important centre of trade and commerce, including a traditional base for sericulture and manufacture of shellac. Is meandering roads to Ranchi a commuter's paradise?

We often hear of rich and expensive wedding gifts like diamond ornaments, luxurious villa and so on. However, these days, we all hear of Web 2.0 and things are changing a lot in Internet. So, why not wedding gifts! Sudesh Mahato, Home (interior) Minister of Jharkhand state of India, has come up with the novel idea of furnishing the village of his bride with a new road and connection of electricity. He is an influential minister in the state and his influence was enough to persuade the state government to do these things. The villagers of the bride are really happy and excited. They are getting the things that they have dreamt about for ages. The minister is arranging his ceremony in the village area with all the grandeur of a royal wedding. Massive arrangements have been done and nearly 150,000 guests are expected to join the wedding feast.

The minister has ensured the building of a 35-kilometer (22-mile) concrete road that is joining his home with that of his bride.

The wedding is going to take place 18 June 2006 and already it has become the talk of the country. I wish that all the rich people of South Asia can learn something from this. They all the time spend absurdly huge sum of money for arranging wedding and I know that even if I write million entries in my blog they are not going to change their style in near future. So, my advice for them is- be matured and think of Wedding gift 2.0 and build roads and bridges for your villages as a part of wedding celebration.
