| Vadodara Vadodara is a district in the eastern part of the state of Gujarat in western India. The city of Vadodara (Baroda), in the western part of the district, is the administrative headquarters as well. How does it administer the Road Safety issue, though? Please comment. |

Considering the increasing traffic movement on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway number 8, the Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL) has commissioned a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway No. 8 near Dashrath on the outskirts Baroda. GAIL plans to set up two more CNG stations in Baroda this year. The city has about 30,000 autorickshaws and 80,000 four-wheelers. Very few use CNG. The CNG station at the S.R. Patel petrol pump in Nizampura can cater to 50 buses, 800 cars and 1500 three-wheelers everyday.

CNG filling stations in the city are a nuisance
Whoever came out with the idea of having CNG filling stations inside Baroda city on busy streets (Nizampura, Nattubhai Circle, etc. to point out a few) is weird. Half of the road is blocked by the long waiting line of autorickshaws and cars, generally seen being driven into the wrong way, and parked in a way blocking the traffic flow. Strange, it happens only in India!
Jan 17th, 2008. I got this opportunity to be in Baroda once again, and lo! I see a long queue of Autorickshaws waiting for CNG filling. Moreover, the closure of the right turn on the Wadi-wadi circle has lead to drivers taking the wrong side on the already congested road. Now, I do not have workds to say anything further... All I can say is... "HUM SUNAHARE KAL KI ORE BADH RAHE HAIN" (JAWAHARLAL NEHRU) Last edited by ajay.67; 17-01-08 at 04:32 PM. |
