Hyderabad
Hyderabad - Istanbul of India. Jami Masjid, Toli Masjid, the Char Minar. Hustle and bustle of market life. Golconda Fortress, tombs of the Quatab Shahi Kings. Central Library, Osmania University, Public Gardens, Osman Sagar. Colourful bazaars, traditional Muslim gear and Mughlai delicacies. Hub of IT & Telecommunications, MNCs, superspeciality hospitals, medical tourism. Pleasant climate, magnificent cuisine, Hyderabadi Biryani, splendid shopping areas. But how is this fascinating amalgam of cultures coping with the traffic and road problems?

Urgent change in mindset needed

In the last one month, among various road accidents in Andhra Pradesh , atleast three have a common root cause : Vehicle hits a lorry parked on the road. There were about 20 deaths in these three cases together.

And yet, nobody has asked the questions: Why were the lorries parked on the road/carriage-way? ; Is there any patrolling by police to ensure vehicles are not stopped dangeroulsy on the road ?; Were parking lights or hazard lights used which could have prevented the accidents/deaths ?

When I say nobody asked the questions, this includes the government, the road transport departments, the police, the policitical parties and the people. Everyone just let these news pass with a "Oh!! So Sorry to hear that" reaction.
There is hardly any debate, any interest nor concern that would have naturally raised the kind of questions I raised above - and help prevent these accidents from recurring at such an alarming rate.
The culprit here is the mindset among all of us - We do not question things that affect us with the vigour that they deserve. Even deaths casued due to such negligence do not stir us into action.
We need to change the thinking - and time bomb s ticking away as we look the other way ....

You are right my friend!.

The time bomb is ticking. But the population clock is also ticking...and ticking fast.

Who cares about Human Life in India? Many die and so many more are born!

It's a vicious circle here!. None of the authorities are interested.

Everyone is busy making their monies.! Be it the auto manufacturers or the govt., no one seems bothered.

Look at the irresponsible TV ads. Fast cars, bikes and ad shots in Gora Land.

What are they trying to prove?

India is just 60 years old. Will need another 100 to get on track.

Until then, I remain!.
