It is a testing time for commuters along the Old Mumbai Highway, near Lingampally MMTS station. Potholes, craters and ditches welcome you to the locality.

The road passing beneath the railway track near Serilingampally ZP High School is a high traffic zone in the locality, as it reduces both distance and time travelled from Patancheru to Mehdipatnam and vice versa. With the road being dug up to lay stream water pipelines, commuters here have a torrid time.


The heavy traffic that mainly comprises inter-State and intra-State trucks, buses, trolleys gets mixed with the local commuters and chaos rules at the MMTS railway crossing gate, as it is the only alternate road for commuters to ply. Long winding snarls with impatient commuters honking and trying to wend their way through the jam is very common.

More than anybody it is the residents of Chandanagar, Ramachandrapuram, Patancheru, Taranagar, Doyens Township and Tellapur who get subjected to traffic blues everyday. Lack of approach roads, streetlights and flying dust enveloping the roads leading to the MMTS station make matters even worse.

"At nights, women and children find it difficult even to reach their homes, courtesy potholes on the roads," says Ismail Ahmed, a resident of Gulmohar Park.

Interestingly, the authorities here are developing only one side of the road and leaving the other to its fate. And Serilingampally Municipal Commissioner A.V. Dharma Reddy says the newly laid road would be thrown open to traffic in a day or two.
