Central Library, Osmania University, Public Gardens, Osman Sagar. Colourful bazaars, traditional Muslim gear and Mughlai delicacies. Hub of IT & Telecommunications, MNCs, superspeciality hospitals, medical tourism. Pleasant climate, magnificent cuisine, Hyderabadi Biryani, splendid shopping areas. RTC strike likely from October 24
HYDERABAD: Over 22,000 buses of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) may go off the roads from Oct. 24 if the government fails to accept the employees' demands.
"As per norms, the union can go on strike only 14 days after they serve the notice. So, we have at least a fortnight. The union leaders walked out of the talks midway," said APSRTC chairman G Prakash Rao. The National Mazdoor Union (NMU) wants a wage revision of 18 per cent. Preliminary discussions had failed to evolve a consensus. And on Tuesday, the NMU served a notice on the APSRTC management threatening a state-wide indefinite strike from October 24.
