Drive against fancy number plates
The traffic police on Monday(27Nov) booked 702 cases against two and fourwheeler riders on the first day of the special drive against fancy number plates in the city.
Police seized 31 vehicles and later released them after their owners paid the fine. At quite a few places, police faced mild resistance from the violators who argued over the high penal amount levied on them. Police slapped challans ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000 on the violators. Six special teams, each headed by an assistant commissioner of police (ACP), took part in the day-long drive at 43 junctions at various places in the city. |
