Pune
Maharashtra's seat of culture, laid back, insane traffic, a few curious, but good watering holes, one of the most flamboyant race courses, has the fastest growing suburb of Asia, the Scotland of the East, pensioner's paradise. Osho, the ABC farms. The hot afternoons, the lovely nights and early mornings. The Misal and Usal. The Batatachi Bhaji!. How is the Roads and Traffic though?

Now, traffic constables too can seize licences

Beginning the first week of January, constables will be empowered to seize the licences of motorists found violating traffic rules, Mahesh Ghurye, deputy commissioner of police (traffic) told TOI on Tuesday.

The constables will hand over a receipt and offenders will have to collect their licences from the traffic police headquarters, near the police commissioner's office, on S.V. road in Pune Camp, after paying the fine.

The system is expected to reduce corruption by traffic policemen as the fine has to be paid at the traffic police headquarters. Besides, it will deter motorists from committing traffic violations as they will have to spend extra time to go to the headquarters to collect their licences.

Currently, only those above the rank of assistant sub-inspector are entitled to impound licences.

All will depend upon traffic policeman b'coz if he/she issue challans honestly means not accept the bribe from defaulter to solve the matter on the spot....
