| Pune Maharashtra's seat of culture, laid back, insane traffic, a few curious, but good watering holes, one of the most flamboyant race courses, has the fastest growing suburb of Asia, the Scotland of the East, pensioner's paradise. Osho, the ABC farms. The hot afternoons, the lovely nights and early mornings. The Misal and Usal. The Batatachi Bhaji!.
How is the Roads and Traffic though? |

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), Pune, recently awarded compensation of Rs 11.13 lakh to the elderly parents of an accident victim.
Of the total amount, MACT member R M Joshi awarded Rs 1.25 lakh to the victim's widow, who has since remarried. The victim, Nilesh Daga, died in a road accident at Panmala on Sinhagad road on March 24, 2003. He ran a medical at Sadashiv Peth and earned Rs 1.44 lakh annually. His parents, Badirnarayan and Gangadevi Daga, had filed a petition before MACT, claiming Rs 15 lakh compensation from the truck owner and driver and the New India Insurance Company through their lawyer Likhit Gandhi. MACT held that the victim, who died at a young age, had good prospects and awarded compensation to his parents and widow as the latter had also suffered and lost her husband a short time after her marriage. The tribunal directed the respondents, including the truck driver, the owner and the insurance company, to pay the claim with nine per cent interest. |
