The Chandigarh Traffic Police today issued a challan of Rs 3,000 against Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh for using his recently imported sports ‘Hummer’ without a registration number.

Minutes after the cricketer was issued a challan, a number plate bearing a temporary registration number (DL-1 (T) Y6118) was pasted on the SUV.

“As soon as we learnt that his vehicle is being driven without a registration number, we issued a challan against him for violating the Motor Vehicles Act,” said Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Chandigarh, H S Doon.

It was on Monday that Harbhajan was seen in his Hummer on way to a local hotel. The vehicle was being driven by his friend. Harbhajan is here to participate in the BCCI Sahara Corporate Cup.

Interestingly, the vehicle escaped challan by the Punjab Police from his home in Jalandhar to Chandigarh.
