Chandigarh
Modern city. Le Corbusier. Nek chand. Kalpana Chawla. Shabir Bhatia. Kapil Dev. Wide straight roads. Landscaped roundabouts. No sector 13? Cricket stadium, Education mecca, engineering, art, fashion design, architecture. Girls zooming on two-wheelers. Univesity campuses. Rock garden, Rose garden, Sukhna Lake and beautiful view of the mountains. Mangoes, Amaltas, Bougainvilleas, Quiet. No nightlife. NO Traffic Jams! Is it really so?

Driving schools to ease load on licensing authority

Driving schools to ease load on licensing authority

Realising the problems faced by residents in getting motor vehicle licenses, Chandigarh administration has now decided to introduce a new public-friendly system whereby at least 30 city driving schools would be authorised to issue drivers' training certificates, enabling the administration to issue licenses later on.

By adopting this new system of issuing learning licenses, the administration would be able to abolish the dual system of conducting driving test, first by the driving schools and then by the licensing authority itself.

Keeping all these facts in view, the administration will introduce a new policy under Section 15 of the Motor Vehicle Act for issuance of learning licenses by driving schools.

"Every driving school authorised under the system will impart driving training to the applicant who approaches them for issuance of a license before conducting the test of competency to drive a vehicle," revealed a senior official.

If the necessity arises, the administration is also open to increased the number of authorised driving schools by inviting more applications.

Applicants desiring to get learning licenses will have to submit his or her application to any of the driving school authorised by the administration under rule 10 of the Central Motor Vehicles .

The driving school will conduct a preliminary test as provided under rule 11 of the Central Motor Vehicles after satisfying itself regarding the applicants' knowledge and understanding of traffic rules and regulations.

Can you list the schools authorized for issuing driving licences

Hi Manoj,

Can you list the schools authorized for issuing driving licences.

What necessary documentation/requirements for that.

What are things learner must know or have before applying for licence.

Thanks,

Arun Sharma
