Now that the authorities are planning to do something about the service lanes mess, were they sleeping for the last 4 years?

Action should have been taking 4 years back when Ambience Mall opened and that started causing jams.

That particular stretch is so bad. I am sure Mall authorities would be open to pitch in funds for clearing this mess. The mall business will pick up if something is done about the traffic mess that it creates.

Lets hope things don't remain just on paper and some action is taken.

The fact remains that Indian authorities wake up only when situation gets out of control. The media seems to be covering the traffic mess a lot and hence corrupt politicians must have asked the authorities to take some action.

Service lane in front of Ambience Mall to get wide

The service lane in front of Ambience Mall, near the 32-lane toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, will be widened in the coming days. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is also considering various options to separate traffic going towards the toll plaza from that towards Ambience Mall.

The widening of the service lane will greatly reduce the traffic coming from the Delhi side, especially in the morning peak hours. At present, a large number of commuters use the lane to reach Cyber City, often choking it.

According to sources, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) would soon acquire land and chalk out other related details. The lane could be widened up to 15 metres.

The issue came up during a recent meeting of the officials of the Gurgaon police, HUDA and NHAI, among other departments. Pratap Singh, project director, NHAI, said, "The widening work has to be done by HUDA as it is related to the service lane."

The traffic police had been raising the issue of widening the service lane from the toll plaza towards Ambience Mall in its various meetings. DCP (traffic) Bharti Arora said, "The issue will be taken care of with the construction of additional toll gates at the toll plaza."

In an another significant development, options are being looked for separating the traffic going towards Ambience Mall. At present, people have to go all the way to the toll plaza and take a uturn to reach the mall. In doing so, they first have to move from the extreme left lane to the right one and then cut across the traffic and reach extreme left to reach the mall.

According to an NHAI official, several proposals are being considered, like double decker toll plaza, constructing a grid separator, among others.A private consultant has already submitted a proposal and is under consideration at the headquarters, added the official."

Expanded Service lanes are only going to decongest to some extent.

What will happen when the DLF MALL OF INDIA's construction starts?

AMBIENCE Infrastructure is also coming up with new apartments incide Ambience Colony, followed by more construction of offices etc.

So in 3 years down the line, there will be more discussion as to how the decongest the traffic at that point in time.

No futuristic planning by town planners.

I also want to know the timeline of these proposals.For how much time we have to face the huge traffic there?
