Taxi fare slashed
Taxi fare slashed by 50 paise per km Following the recommendations of a high-pow ered taxi fare committee con stituted by the state government, the regional transport authority (RTA) on Thursday slashed the fares of the traditional black and yellow cabs by 50 paise. Keeping the minimum fare of Rs 13 the same, the RTA has slashed the fare from Rs 8.50 to Rs 8 per km. The new fare will come into effect from April 1. Similar changes have been bought in the midnight fare. The taxi fare committee, comprising consumer representatives, taxi unions and RTO officials, concluded that following the conversion of city cabs to CNG, there is scope for a downward revision of taxi fares, said the RTA secretary.
