Mumbai
City of dreams. Economic capital. Movie Magic. Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Hotel Taj, Dombivili, Mulund, Bandra. Mount Mary for those who have faith in the almighty. The UNDERWORLD. The Mumbai nightlife. The city that lives by its train timings. Dharavi, Vashi, Dadar, Colaba, Bal Thackrey, bomb blasts, Prithvi Theatre, Bhel puri, neon lights, Ganesh Chathurti. Sachin’s Ferrari. What do you think of the traffic though?

Thumbs up Stuck in a traffic jam? SMS 3040 for a solution!!!

The CCTV installed will record traffic movement in the city...

Now you need not wait for your radio to figure out the traffic situation in the city. Simply send an SMS 3040 (available to subscribers of BPL, Hutch, MTNL and Tata Indicom) directly to the Mumbai traffic control room through your and get the information, within seconds. The traffic department has started this service and it’s not just to find out the traffic situation but also to lodge complaints, inform about any accidents as well as sending in your suggestions.

Few days back, Satish Mathur, Jt. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) inaugurated the SMS service. When the message is sent, officers at the traffic control will look into the problem immediately. In turn, a reply will be sent. To ensure that the service works fine, the traffic department has installed CCTV cameras at nine junctions in the city to monitor the traffic network.

These cameras will capture and record the images.

According to Satish Mathur, this service has been introduced for the first in the country and will be a big help during the festive season. In addition, the traffic police have put 13 message boards displaying traffic information across the city and in next couple of months it will be increased to 35.
