The pothole on the Jay Coach flyover at Jogeshwari may cost Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) dear.
Senior Inspector AS Ingole of Goregaon police station said that a criminal complaint under section 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code has been filed against MSRDC by Syed Faizan Hussain (28), who met with accident on the flyover after his bike skidded over a pothole around 12.30 am on September 6. “Investigations are on and appropriate action will be taken once the officials responsible for the negligence have been recognised,” he said. MSRDC executive engineer Sharad Shabnis said, “I am not aware of any such case being filed. I have already asked my officers to find the cause of accident.” Regarding the repair work of the flyover, he said that the MSRDC had already completed the concrete patch-up of the pothole, and traffic on the adjoining lane would resume in three days. Hussain, a resident of Goregaon (east), works as a manager with Poonam Sinha, wife of actor Shatrughan Sinha. He was heading home from his Juhu office when the accident took place. “I have filed a complaint against MSRDC because on either ends of the flyover there are boards of the MSRDC,” he said. “It can only mean that MSRDC maintains the flyover. I won’t buy any argument that the contractor who built the flyover is responsible for its maintenance.” Hussain added, “Unless we question, the authorities, they will never realise that they are accountable to us.” |

Well done Hussain,
I think filed complaint against them are the only way that work as wake up call for all the contractor who have the responsibility for roads maintenances. |

Mumbai is riddled with holes - from potholes to manholes, they mark the city, the suburbs and the townships, brutally damaging cars and causing accidents but there is one place called Cuffe Parade...This area has all the high rise buildings. The road outside is very good. Compared to the rest of Mumbai this area has no potholes on its roads.

I agree with you hemant!! The condition of Mumbai roads is pitiable, Mumbai has a massive traffic problem and Mumbai roads are full of potholes that come in all shapes and sizes and open protected manholes.
