Mumbai
City of dreams. Economic capital. Movie Magic. Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Hotel Taj, Dombivili, Mulund, Bandra. Mount Mary for those who have faith in the almighty. The UNDERWORLD. The Mumbai nightlife. The city that lives by its train timings. Dharavi, Vashi, Dadar, Colaba, Bal Thackrey, bomb blasts, Prithvi Theatre, Bhel puri, neon lights, Ganesh Chathurti. Sachin’s Ferrari. What do you think of the traffic though?

Smile Cabs for her

Cabs For Her

MUMBAI-BASED ENTREPRENEUR Revathi Roy launched a private taxi service for women on International Women’s Day.

Called ‘Forsche’, the service is for women — with women at the wheel.

Revathi Roy, founder of “Forsche”, drives a cab at Worli on Thursday(8Mar'07).

It will take another 10 days before the first batch of 25 cabs hit the streets. The service will be available from 8 am to 8 pm for now.

Her white and silver cars will be driven by Englishspeaking, female graduates — in their mid-thirties and older — dressed in trendy pink and purple uniforms.

A former rally driver, Roy did not decide to start this service because she felt Mumbai’s taxis are unsafe. She simply wanted to offer an alternative. The air-conditioned cabs — Indigos, Indicas and WagonR — will come with everything a woman on the move needs — girly magazines, a mini-cosmetic kit and big mirrors.

However, Roy’s cabs come with a high price tag. It’s a “premium” service and costs a Rs 4,000 for the full day and Rs 2,500 for half day. Almost double of what one would pay for a normal private cab.

Kudos to Revathi Roy but these cabs will struggle little bit in starting phase due to their premium prices.
